Nanjing, referred to as Ning for short, is the capital and sub provincial city of Jiangsu Province. It is the political, economic, scientific, educational and cultural center of the province. Nanjing is one of the four major ancient capitals of China, the first batch of national historical and cultural cities, an important birthplace of Chinese civilization, and has blessed the righteousness of China several times in history. It is the only one of the four major ancient capitals that has never been the capital of a foreign regime, and has long been the political, economic and cultural center of southern China. Nanjing had ancient human activities as early as 1-1.2 million years ago, and there were already Nanjing apes living in Tangshan 350,000-600,000 years ago, with more than 7,000 years of civilization, nearly 2,600 years of city-building history and nearly 500 years of capital-building history. It is known as the "ancient capital of the six dynasties" and the "capital of the ten dynasties".

Nanjing is a modern city which is full of charm, vitality and potential. It has successively won the titles of China's first batch of famous historical and cultural cities, national civilized cities, national health cities, national garden cities, UN Habitat special honor award, the first famous software city in China, etc. Nanjing has been identified by the state as the only pilot city for comprehensive reform of science and technology system, innovative city and three networks integration in China. Nanjing is making every effort to build a gateway city connecting the East and the West in the Yangtze River Delta, a national comprehensive transportation hub and a regional science and technology innovation center, and accelerate the construction of a modern international cultural green city.
